How private equity is successfully navigating higher interest rates
Pantheon International manager Helen Steers sits downs with ii's Sam Benstead to discuss private equity investing in today's economic environment.
She explains how the trust uses debt, how the portfolio companies are performing, and why sentiment towards the sector has soured. Steers also goes into depth about how the trust is making more direct investments in companies, rather than using third-party funds, and why fees are typically higher than listed equity investment trusts.

    I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

      I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

    S+P? I presume you mean 500, so that’s all one country, the previous comment RE MSCI world more relevant. Neither has any private equity though so something like this is about diversification, and should only be a small part of a diversified portfolio, with the majority being in a simple tracker/s.

    so it is much more volatile than the MSCI world over a 5 year period whilst also significantly underperforming it. Concentrates risk in fewer (unlisted, less established) companies in a single region. Plus fees for a MSCI world fund are probably 0.1-0.15% and Panteon would be 1.5%... or am I missing something?

      @metaparcel Місяць тому

      Warren Buffet is a trader as well and not only that but there are other managers who do as good or better than Buffet in terms of risk management and returns. The thing is you know him because he's really rich. You can't compare Buffet as he does not trade or invest for institutional investors but rather his own money and whatever he raises from the public markets through shareholders. I'm not sure what you mean by this whole company combined though. I can say that Apple is bigger than Berkshire Hathaway and has a higher margin product and more focused and therefore performs significantly better than Buffet's business. Not sure what point you're making at all.

    • @anthonyschneider8835

      @@metaparcel Warren Buffett is not a trader lol. I’m specifically talking about the returns provided to the shareholder. I’m saying that their funds cannot come close to generating the returns that he can even with all of their fancy analysts, managers, fancy building, etc. I would further expand that most of what they do could be characterized as twaddle.
